Here you can find special techniques and equipment you can rebuild. Have fun using them in your own domino projects.

Domino techniques

• 1. Crossover

  Very easy: You build a small domino gate over the domino line you want to cross. Important: The domino line that is crossing must be the second one toppling. It is also possible to reduce the gate's height, but it's safer to build it as shown in the picture.

  
• 2. Bell

  You buy a hotel bell and make a big domino fall on it. This creates a sound.

  
• 3. Bus / Car

  For this technique, you need a ramp and a toy automobile that you place on top of the ramp. When the dominos touch it, it will roll down where it can topple another domino line.

  
• 4. Direction Changer

  This is the easiest way of building a direction changer. At the end of two domino lines, place two dominos on top of each other. When now the lower domino topples, the other one will topple in the other direction and will knock over the second line.

  
• 5. 3D-constructions

• 6. At the same time

  Here, you have to be very precise. Divide a domino line into two and after exactly the same distance, devide those two lines again, so that you have four. When you do this some more times, the contruction will get larger and larger, but all the last dominos of each branch will topple at the same time.

  
• 7. Self-setting-up-stones

  Place a stone horizontally on the ground and lean some other stones against it. When now a domino line hits the horizontal stone, the other stones will set up theirselves.

  
• 8. Sonimod

  This is very similar to number 7, but not the same. Place one stone horizontally on the ground and place some other dominos as shown in the picture. When now the horizontal stone topples, the other stones will also topple very fast.

• 10. Special mechanism

  I'm sorry, but I cannot explain this :D. Just set up the dominos as shown in the picture.

  

Standard equipment for domino builders

• 1. The domino comb

  This is the most useful aid for domino builders. Dominos are being put into a comb, moving the comb leads to a straight domino line. The comb can either be made of Lego stones or wood.

  
• 2. The direction changer

  If you need to change the falling direction of the dominos, a direction changer is really useful. It is made of a small moveable piece of wood that topples a domino line in the other direction when touched.

  
• 3. The bridge

  Sooner or later, domino lines will cross in you project. To make this less complicated, you can use a small bridge made of wood.

  
• 4. The staircase

  You can use a small staircase at the beginning of your domino project. As a result, the first domino is higher and better reachable than the others are.

  
• 5. The fieldtoppler

  To topple a domino field, you can either stick several dominos together or use a piece of plexiglass that topples more domino lines at the same time.

  
• 6. The crossover

  This is an alternative for the bridge, but not so easy to make. A piece of wood with two moveable metal sticks in it. Those sticks can topple a domino line at the other side of the wooden block.
